When Tom's (Art Parkinson) father, a Belfast zookeeper, enlists in the war effort and joins the Allied forces in Europe, Tom and his friends attempt to save a young elephant, named Buster, after the Royal Ulster Constabulary receives orders to put down the zoo's animals so that they do not become a danger to the community. Convinced that the elephant does not pose a threat to anyone Tom and his friends find a place to hide the elephant with the secret help of an eccentric animal lover (Penelope Wilton).
Based on a true story of a woman in Belfast, during World War II, who cared for a young elephant as Luftwaffe bombs fell down on Belfast in 1941.
